Hello!

Izyan Hussain here, the founder of Sabun Tales. I am also the main soap artisan for Sabun Tales. I am a mom to 2 wonderful girls and a wife to an awesome husband.

How did Sabun Tales come to existence?

My journey into soap making is not a special "I found my calling" kind of story. It was a journey of self-healing for me. I discovered soap making towards the end of first year of Covid-19, back in 2020. At that time, I was trying to find something that can help me center and soothe myself as I went through a major loss that year. You can find out more from this link.

I made my first loaf in December 2020 and I enjoyed the process of cold process soap making. I find myself able to be in the zone and everything just got quiet in my head space. It helped me to decompress from the ongoing events of the world at that time.

From then on, I got bitten by the soap making bug. I learnt to make my own soap recipes and eventually went down the rabbit hole of creating and experimenting with different soap making techniques. As I experiment and create new designs and recipes, I soon was stuck with loads and loads of soap. Initially I started by giving away my experiment pieces to family and friends. But eventually, there's only so many people that I can give my soaps to. Hence I made the decision to sell my soaps in order for me to make more soaps.

Serendipitously, as an unpublished writer, I also want to tell stories from my creation - that soap can be more than just pretty, smells delicious, cleans you up real good, low wastage etc. Hence I named my small business Sabun Tales.
